So, this past weekend, I was back in Texas for a wedding and had a blast not only because I got to get dressed up for the event, \u00a0but most of all because I got to see my family, catch up with them and have a great time!! \u00a0Although it was not to the extremes of the weather in the Northeast, it was definitely a cold weather weekend and thus we had to dress accordingly. \u00a0Well, at least it was cold weather for a native San Antonio girl like me!<\/p>\n

For someone who doesn’t do it often, dressing for a formal or cocktail event in cold weather can sometimes be a challenge. \u00a0I wanted to try and wear something versatile enough that wouldn’t cause me to overheat indoors but would still keep me warm while outside. \u00a0For a dinner on Friday at a quaint, rustic restaurant I went for a leather dress, but in a burgundy color rather than basic black to keep it current and sexy but not too over the top. \u00a0This was a family event after all! And my jacket was something I got recently because it brought back memories of a similarly\u00a0patterned jacked from when I was a little girl. \u00a0However, in leather and shearling stripes, it is definitely NOT what I grew up with!<\/p>\n

As for the shoes, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t keep it colorful and I love the multicolored spikes for a playful edge<\/p>\n

Saturday was my cousin’s wedding and not only was it beautiful, but we all had a great time celebrating and sharing our memories together. \u00a0My family has always been so supportive of me and I am so lucky to have them. \u00a0Of course, since we were at a wedding, our marriages came up for discussion. \u00a0One note that really struck me was how marriage has allowed me to be with someone who truly loves me for who I am and doesn’t want or expect me to be anything than myself. \u00a0It’s hard to find that true someone who not only accepts, but really loves the quirks and idiosyncracies we all have and I know I am so lucky to have found it. \u00a0Sorry if I’m getting too sappy, but weddings just make me remember all over again how lucky and happy I am. \u00a0 Speaking to that, my husband was a champ and watched our son so my mom and I could get our makeup done before the wedding.<\/p>\n

Shout out to the amazing staff at Tom Ford at Neiman Marcus for doing such an amazing job! But, like I said, I’m still very much an amateur at this, so I don’t have any close ups of the eye makeup that would do justice to the amazing work that Shaun and Kyle did. \u00a0But believe me, it was amazing!<\/p>\n

For the wedding, I opted for a soft and stretchy dress that gave lots of room to dance the night away! \u00a0As for the shoes, you may recognize them from last week! If you are wondering about the middle pic, I included it because that was her first time ever wearing heels!! We swapped shoes for the picture and I was really impressed- those are not beginner heels!<\/p>\n
